CALCAROLE, Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG – 2016
The 2015 vintage marks 30 years since the first bottle of Calcarole was produced and for the first time ever Calcarole will be labelled as Riserva. The wine still spends 3 years in oak followed by a settling period in stainless steel as always, however now the main difference is that the settling period extends a little longer allowing Calcarole to be bottled at the ideal time. It’s produced exclusively in the best vintages and in small quantities, from a strictly handmade harvesting. The wine is structured and elegant
Calcarole is a terraced vineyard in Negrar, in the heart of the Classic Valpolicella. It is ideally located for the peculiar mild climate, the pebbly soil and the south-west exposure. Obtained from old vines, the grapes are harvested by hand only with an optimal degree of ripeness for subsequent drying, which takes place in boxes for a few months. Calcarole Amarone can be stored for several years in the bottle. From the 2015 vintage onwards Calcarole has been labelled as a Riserva.
