An international recognition for the wine tourism excellence of the historic Guerrieri Rizzardi cellars
After an extraordinary season that welcomed guests from all over the world to Rambaldi Apartments, Guerrieri Rizzardi is proud to announce the achievement of the international Best of Wine Tourism Award.
A recognition of wine tourism excellence
The prestigious award is promoted by the international network Great Wine Capitals, which every year selects those destinations capable of combining hospitality, culture, and territory, offering meaningful and high-quality experiences in the field of wine tourism.
The network brings together eleven of the world’s most renowned wine capitals — from Bordeaux to Mendoza, from Napa Valley to Verona — united by a deep connection to their wine regions and by the desire to promote excellence in wine tourism.
A new way to experience a holiday on Lake Garda
Amid the medieval walls of Bardolino and the shores of the lake, Rambaldi Apartments represents a unique destination within the long-standing tradition of hospitality of the Rizzardi family.
A “residenza diffusa”, consisting of 53 apartments created from the historic buildings and former Guerrieri Rizzardi cellars, it is the natural evolution of the ancient borgo that for centuries hosted the productive heart of our winery.
Until 2011, in fact, the historic Guerrieri Rizzardi cellars stood right here, in the centre of Bardolino, before being moved to the nearby hills at the edge of the lakeside village.
Today, the spaces that once housed the barrels, fermentation rooms, and the ageing cellar welcome travellers, offering a stay that combines elegance with the authentic charm of a place deeply intertwined with the history of this land.
The ancient borgo and family cellars reborn as a residenza diffusa
The origins of the borgo in the heart of Bardolino date back to the 14th century, when it was home to some of the town’s most distinguished families, including the Marquises Rambaldi, from whom it takes its name.
From the 17th century, part of the buildings hosted the wine cellars of the Counts Guerrieri. Over time, artisan workshops, small shops, and activities connected to the daily life of the village were added.
In 1913, following the union with the Counts Rizzardi, the courtyards and adjoining buildings became the productive centre of the Guerrieri Rizzardi winery, a role they maintained until the winemaking activities were relocated to a modern facility on the nearby hills.
In 2016, a careful restoration brought new life to these buildings — a collection of different eras and styles — transforming them into an elegant and lively destination, featuring refined apartments, gourmet restaurants, and elegant boutiques overlooking a charming central square, recreating the authentic atmosphere of historic Italian villages.
A story of restoration and rebirth
“I grew up within these walls. This place has always felt alive to me, where our family home and the winery shared the same breath.
Here worked people I had known all my life, who shared with us the rhythm of everyday life.
When we decided to build the new winery outside Bardolino’s centre, I felt the desire to bring life back to these spaces, enhancing every part of the borgo without losing its soul.
Thanks to meticulous conservation and restoration work, today Rambaldi Apartments represents the most natural way to keep this story alive — through a harmonious ensemble of residences, gardens, and spaces where people meet, in perfect balance between memory and modernity.”
— Agostino Rizzardi

When the philosophy of hospitality becomes a shared project
This recognition is the result of a collective commitment by the entire Rambaldi Apartments team, who welcome guests each day with care and attention.
It is thanks to their dedication, consistent work, and the passion with which they embody the values of the Guerrieri Rizzardi family that this project continues to grow — telling, in ever-new forms, the enduring beauty of our bond with Bardolino and with wine.
